Rebooting my Fandoms
Everything is getting rebooted lately, and I think it is time to consider the fandoms I belong to, and haven’t participated in for years.Participation is the Magic Word ¶ There is a strange phenomenon afoot among fans. While some fans are more active than ever, others like me have started having a vicarious fandom, ie our primary experience is geeking out on other people’s blog posts, podcasts, videos, or fanfic. ¶ This vicarious fandom is numbing. I speak from experience here. Once upon a time, I wrote fic, I theorycrafted, and even podcasted about all the things I loved.
